For the second consecutive year, BlueScope has been named as a World Steel Association (worldsteel) Sustainability Champion.

The award was accepted by our Managing Director and CEO, Mark Vassella at worldsteel’s Special General Meeting held in Sydney, Australia.

To be recognised as one of 14 steel companies announced as a 2025 Sustainability Champion, organisations needed to actively contribute to a number of worldsteel programmes including the climate action and life cycle inventory programmes and be shortlisted for a Steelie Award or recognised in the worldsteel Safety and Health Recognition Programme. 

In 2024, BlueScope was recognised for safety and health excellence in the category of safety culture and leadership. This recognition builds on the momentum to integrate Human and Organisational Performance principles into our foundational safety practices, our efforts in leadership support and employee participation through three specific programs:

• Small Group Activity Teams
