About the service centre

Located on the traditional lands of the Gandangara and Darug people, Australian Steel Products’ Western Sydney Service Centre (Service Centre), Erskine Park, New South Wales, won the 2007 NSW Urban Taskforce Development Excellence Award for Industrial Development.

The centre won the award for best practice in manufacturing processes, as well as being a leader in water and energy efficiency, and visual expression. It was acknowledged as the benchmark for future industrial projects in the Western Sydney area through its creative application of steel.

Producing 120,000 tonnes of COLORBOND® steel per year, enough to supply roofing for over 80,000 homes, the facility was opened in 2008 to meet the growing demand of the Sydney housing market. As BlueScope's first Sydney-based paint line, the Service Centre has a 20,000m² state of the art paint line facility, including ancillary buildings and an associated hardstand paved area for parking heavy vehicles.

Metal coating line development

Domestic steel demand is growing and to meet demand, an additional Metal Coating Line (MCL7), is proposed at the Western Sydney Service Centre. BlueScope's seventh paint-line in Australia.

The project, with a proposed location adjacent to the existing paint line operations at the WSSC site, will provide up to 240,000 tonnes of additional capacity to feed COLORBOND®, ZINCALUME® and TRUECORE® steel products, used for roofs, house frames and fencing.

Details of the project can be found on the Metal Coating Line #7 page.
