Metal Coating Line #7 (MCL7)
The project involves the construction of a Metal Coating Line #7 (MCL7) adjacent to the existing Coil Paint Line #8 (CPL8) at the Western Sydney Service Centre (WSSC).
The State Significant Development Application for the MCL7 was approved in September 2023 by the NSW Department of Planning and Environment.
Over the course of 2023, the project team has been working on completing design and engineering for the facility and tendering contracts for the supply of equipment and services.
Construction is due to commence by the end of November 2023 and a notification of commencement was submitted to the NSW Department of Planning and Environment in October 2023.
Stage 1 of construction includes in ground works; services, piling, foundations and ground slabs.
Stage 2 is expected to commence by the end of the first quarter of 2024, and will include all above-ground works including structural steel, building cladding, and foundations for the metal coating equipment.
Stages 3 and 4 will commence by mid-2024 and will include the Administration building extension and metal coating line and ancillary equipment installation respectively.
The project will create significant employment opportunities including more than 250 construction jobs and an additional 45 new full-time permanent jobs.

Project Statutory Approvals
A project application including an Environmental Impact Statement for the project was submitted to the NSW Department of Planning and Environment for approval. The project was approved on 15 September 2023. A copy of the Instrument of Consent and corresponding application documents for the project can be accessed through the NSW Government Major Projects Website or from the section below.
In addition to the Infrastructure Approval, the project is regulated by NSW Environmental Protection Licence 12495.
